Time Out New York
The best parties of 2011
By Dave Hughes

"718 Sessions
The year 2011 saw a serious resurgence of deep house, to the point that one of dance music’s leading lights, Seth Troxler, poked fun at the trend in his “Party Guilt.” “You wanna get deep? What, like deep house? I know the soul, I’ve felt the rhythm, yeah yeah yeah, boom boom boom.” That snarkiness had no place at Danny Krivit’s 718 Sessions, which was deep and soulful even before the wave crested, and always pushed a positive vibe. Santos Party House , 100 Lafayette St at Walker St (212-714-4646, santospartyhouse.com <http://santospartyhouse.com> ). Monthly Sun 6pm, next party Sun 11; $20, before 7pm $5."

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
