In anticipation of their US, Asian and European Tour in June and July, CLUB PAR AVION http://www.clubparavion.com and THE COOLER KIDS http://www.coolerkids.com will be presenting an evening of Nintendisco, strobing synth riffs, and German-Franco Electro decadence.

From the mean clean streets of Hamburg, German comes MONOPRIX, a man not afraid to grab the acoustic or electric guitar and let himself get into a delightful singing duet of French Chansons with the slick hooks and beats of his sampler, or to join his friends THE COOLER KIDS in anthemic chorus in the debut of their new side project BOYGIRL. Kaz and Cis Cooler Kid promise a set of entirely new and clever BOYGIRL material, with an occasional COOLER KID dancefloor anthem lovingly mixed in for good measure. The mighty COUGAR opens the evening with an exposition of their latest vintage synthesizer purchase and a set of infectious dancefloor neu electro. In typical fashion, CLUB PAR AVION Selectors SOJU and MAURICE DE LA FALAISE will be spinning their typically sensational mix of Global Indie Clubpop, Nintendisco, and Ye-Ye Twist Du Monde from around the world throughout the night.

Maurice is a friend of mine and is one of the trend-setting DJs in LA. What's interesting about his musical tastes, as you can see by the notice, is that his influences are from all around the world. If you're in S. Cal, you should check this out :good job:

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
