We are very pleased to announce Spectrum’s new London home and the spectacular line up for the first event on Saturday October 1st. The Electric is an 1600 capacity live and club venue due to open in September in the heart of Brixton, South London. At the site of famous venue The Fridge, The Electric has received a substantial investment and overhaul and is set to host some of London’s best live and club events – including Spectrum.

Spectrum’s arrival on the London scene has been nothing short of spectacular. With three massive sell-out shows under the belt so far in 2011, it’s is considered by many to be one of London’s hottest and influential club brands. Hosting uniquely programmed multi-genre line-ups with unparalleled production and visuals, the move to The Electric will see the next phase in the events with some very special events planned in October, November and New Year’s Eve.

Utilising the full live capabilities we invite Northern Irish trio the Japanese Popstars to perform their festival techno live show, which has drawn parallels to Underworld and also helped land them a major deal and appearances at some of the world’s best festivals. One of dubstep’s brightest stars is Jakwob, his fusion of popular sounds with the underground sound of the moment has seen him gain major support across both daytime and specialist shows on Radio One.

Electro indie stars South Central make their first appearance at Spectrum on October 1st. The Maltese duo (residents of Brighton) are favourites of The Prodigy and have toured extensively across their arena tours as well as remixing Warrior’s Dance from their Invaders Must Die album.

Dubstep stars Borgore and Bare Noize are two acts who are gaining massive followings across the globe. Israeli Borgore has built up a reputation around his high impact DJ/MC sets, his misogynistic alter ego is one that regularly divides opinions. Bare Noize can count Skrillex as one of their biggest fans and they have recently remixed Lady Gaga and Foreign Beggars. For the fans of the heavier end of bass music, this pairing are headliners on their own.

Big events are nothing new to Spectrum’s founder Pete Jordan. Having graced a number of biggest events across the globe including main stage appearances at Global Gathering and on arena tours with The Prodigy, Dizzee Rascal and Deadmau5. His recent productions have seen him gaining regular Radio 1 coverage, with forthcoming remixes of Rocker’s Revenge – Walking on Sunshine and Earth from Iceland’s Gus Gus are due out soon.

The second room of the club pushes the bass theme even further with dubstep hotshots Cookie Monsta and Torqux & Twist being the highlight of another jam-packed room of bass-bin endangering music.

If this wasn’t already enough, we also welcome back one of our recent headliners, who we will announce on September 1st. Yet again Spectrum brings bass-led genre defying line-ups like no other!

DANGER: BARE NOIZE are coming to Spectrum!

Ollie Pile and Daniel Brown are the electronic calamity that is Bare Noize, a project focusing on evolving dubstep and pushing the genre
beyond its usual barriers. Since their Proxy 'Dance In Dark' remix first surfaced in 2009, gaining the support of Crookers, DJ Zinc and Joker, they have
released a number of 12"s on Z-Audio. 2010 saw the duo following in the footsteps of Nero and Bar 9 with the release of 'Filthy Lummox',
their debut on Audio Phreaks and a number of high profile remixes for the likes of Skrein, M'Black and Foreign Beggars.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
