Techno powerhouse Cocoon is coming to London this April – and bringing one hell of a party.

Presenting its first major event of the year, legendary club Cocoon will be taking over a secret central London venue on April 9th. And with a lineup that perfectly showcases why Cocoon is considered one of the biggest names in electronic music, this is big news.

Sven Vath’s Cocoon has long been at the forefront of electronic music; Cocoon Club is widely considered to be one of the world’s biggest and best clubs, while Cocoon Recordings’ roster boasts some of the industry’s brightest stars and most innovative producers, including Dominik Eulberg, Funk D’Void, Guy Gerber, Pig & Dan, Steve Bug, Sven Vath and Ricardo Villalobos. In short, global player Vath has created an alternate reality – one where techno is the lifeblood. And it’s touching down in London for the first time since November’s sold-out Fabric extravaganza.

On April 9th Cocoon London presents three DJs from the East – Romanian dancefloor destroyers Raresh, Pedro and Rhadoo, who together will play a staggering back2back eight-hour set. Eight hours!

Cocoon London will be throbbing all night to the intense sound of the [a:rpia:r] founders and Cocoon Club upstarts, who have played some of the biggest clubs in the world. According to the trio, top label [a:rpia:r] is based on the actual experience of the dancefloor. For Raresh, Pedro and Rhadoo, minimal goes epic, with a techno-meets-house flavour that sends ravers into a frenzy – its energetic and exuberant, and pure Cocoon gold.

Raresh is probably the most famous of Romania’s big DJs, known for the warm, intense grooves that are woven through his minimal-tech house tunes. His style is instantly recognizable and has won him critical acclaim and an army of fans. He’s played some of the most famous clubs around the world and is constantly in demand – he’s Cocoon’s darling, and a DJ at the top of his game.

Pedro has in recent years become one of the stars of Ibiza’s new wave. A favourite in clubs around Europe, he began DJing in 1999 in Bucharest. His music has a grooving deep house vibe. Rhadoo is one of Romania’s favourite music stars. Having started DJing in 1995, he has won plaudits as a top-class DJ, and now his diverse production skills and ethos are raising eyebrows throughout the industry – his talent for making credible and addictive dubby tech-house and uplifting techno credible is particularly remarkable.

And now these three Romanian DJs play together in London for the first time in two years. They’re here to show why Romania is the newest hotspot for electronic music.

RARESH
Exuberance, joy, intense groove and the perfect mix of house, techno and minimal. Each week brings him at least two round-trip flights to corners of the world: Frankfurt, London, Buenos Aires, Copenhagen, Ibiza, Rome, Florence, Berlin, Madrid and the list may continue. He is part of the Cocoon Booking roster and one of the key Cocoon residents. He is invited to play at all the most famous clubs and festivals: Timewarp, Sonne Mond Sterne, Nature One, Love Parade. Together with his friends Rhadoo and Pedro he founded in 2007 the romanian electronic music label called [a:rpia:r]. Their debut vinyl contained Raresh’s first production called "Dry Tool".

Petre Inspirescu
In his home town of Bucharest, Romania, Pedro aka Petre Inspirescu has long been a pivotal figure alongside his frequent accomplices Raresh and Rhadoo. He started djing in 1999 in a small club called Web Club. He became resident at Circoloco, Dc10 Ibiza and since then has not looked back as demand for his skills as gone through the roof the world over. From the very beginning Pedro has been strongly affected by deep house tunes and the multitude variety of grooves - not only in electronic music. His DJ sets are as sonically baffling as they are irresistibly groovy; as a producer his tracks are as unhinged as they are methodical. He set high standards with the track "De Bou" that was released on his own label A:RPIA:R. Luciano's Cadenza, one of the most respected labels in the electronic music scene, approached Pedro and signed him right away (Recommendation: Cadenza # 20). Pedro haS gained a reputation as a incredible DJ, for and as resident at Circo Loco Ibiza @ DC10, he plays to an international audience week after week through out the summer and shows all over the world!

Rhadoo
DJ, producer, remixer, one of the first electronic music romanian DJs and one of the first artists in the roster of Sunrise Booking Agency. Rhadoo (Radu Cilinca) made his debut as a DJ in 1995. His first gigs consisted of nights at Club A and Studio Martin, Bucharest, Romania. His eccentric style and personality has helped him earn a reputation as a top-class DJ. His consistently growing reputation has landed him gigs all over the word including a residency at DC10 in Ibiza. His sound goes deep and powerful, with strong baselines. Rhadoo has proved his production skills, with releases on his own label [a:rpia:r] and also on Cadenza Records. Rhadoo is not only known as one of the most indemand DJs in electronic club music, but he has also proved his astonishing production talents ranging from deep, dubby house to uplifting and seductive techno. Listen to believe

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
