Located conveniently in the East River between Manhattan, NJ, and Queens, Governors Island is New York's premiere outdoor venue, with the city's best views, and 20,000 feet of beach.
Getting to Governors Island is just a quick, 5-minute boat ride away. The event will be accessible via New York Water Taxi. The Water Taxi's will leave every hour from Pier 11, located at the corner of South Street & Wall Street, approximately 4 blocks south of the South Street Seaport. The first ferry will leave at 4pm and every 15 minutes thereafter. Additional pickup locations may be added. There is no parking at the terminal itself, however there are ample lots in the area.

This event begins at 7:30PM

Water Taxi boat shuttles leaves at 7:30pm from Pier 11.

Pier 11 is located in Lower Manhattan at the corner of South Street & Wall Street. Approximately 4 blocks south of the South Street Seaport.

Nearest Subway: is the 2,3,4 or 5 train to Wall Street. Walk East to the foot of Wall Street, Pier 11 is straight ahead. Other Subways are the J, M, or Z train to Broad Street.

From FDR Drive: Go south on FDR to the exit for South Street, Manhattan Bridge. Continue straight on South Street under the Brooklyn Bridge, Go past the South Street Seaport, Pier 11 is on your left at South Street and Wall Street.

From Brooklyn or Manhattan Bridge: Follow signs for South Street or South Street Seaport. Turn right onto South Street, Go past the South Street Seaport, Pier 11 is on your left at South Street and Wall Street.

From New Jersey-Holland Tunnel: When exiting the tunnel follow signs for Downtown & West Street. Go left on West Street (West Side Highway). Follow West Street downtown and then follow signs for FDR Drive. This will take you through a tunnel (no toll), when you exit the tunnel stay right, do not go onto FDR Drive, this puts you onto South Street. Pier 11 is at the corner of South Street and Wall Street, about three blocks up.

Parking: There are a number of lots to choose from within walking distance of Pier 11 (Quik Park @ 1 NY Plaza NYC 10004) Click here for more locations.

      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
