\\Relation: 'Your Tiny Mind' - Remixes

1. Lifelike Remix

2. Laserdisco Remix

3. Tone Float Remix

‘Irresistibly sing-a-long’ Ben Watt (Everything But The Girl / Buzzin’ Fly Records)

‘Simply magic, brilliant, emotional and great, it should be a hit!’ Sebastien Leger (Mistakes Music)

‘Very retro, perfect for a chilled set’ Tom Findlay (Groove Armada)

Urban Torque’s 100th release epitomises the label’s tenacious dedication to artist development, seeing the long-awaited release of ‘Your Tiny Mind’ by the sublimely sing-a-long electro-pop duo, Relation. The label has been diligently working with the band for a number of years, and their forthcoming album, ‘Fear of Night’, is testament to the UT philosophy to see a job worth doing through to the end. It lights the road ahead as the first of a number of full artist albums that Urban Torque will release from artists it has been nurturing, all varying in genre but linked by an emphasis on emotive melody and song-writing.

‘Your Tiny Mind’ is wonderfully understated pop for the electronic generation. It has the groove, edge and emotion to enthral a dancefloor, while at the same time, with its uplifting synths combining with beautifully melancholic vocals, the song carries an enigmatic pathos that leaves an unforgettable impression. Powerfully irresistible.

In his review in US music magazine URB, DJ and musician Ben Watt (formerly of Everything But The Girl) described ‘Your Tiny Mind’ as: “A gorgeous song that comes on like a deadpan Talk Talk versus a chord sequence by Johnny Marr; irresistibly sing-a-long, shot through with pathos and an off-ramp floor-killer to boot.”

\\1.Your Tiny Mind (Lifelike Remix)

French producer, Lifelike, best known for ‘Discopolis’ (Vulture/Defected), his huge hit with Kris Menace, has injected his trademark uplifting ‘80s-inspired synths and given the entrancing original extra bite for the dancefloor. As vivid and vibrant a remix as you are ever likely to hear.

\\2.Your Tiny Mind (Laserdisco Remix)

Lazerdisco achieves the feat of combining 90s breakbeat, LFO, a bit of dubstep and the subtle anthemic quality of the original.

\\3.Your Tiny Mind (Tone Float Remix)

Italian techno duo Tone Float have rendered a deeply hypnotic and dramatically punchy version, darkening the light of the original with insidious craft.

Relation are Essex boys, Andy Leary and Oliver Keech. Their poignant lyrics, melancholic undertones and deep techno groove have brought comparisons to New Order, Underworld and the Killers. Their previous single ‘Superenlightened’ was the BBC website’s Dance Single of the Week and was supported by big-name DJs such as Sasha, John Digweed and James Holden. Relation have also co-written and featured on ‘Solution’ with Superbass (Paul Harris and Jay P) released on Toolroom Records, which has been played several times by Pete Tong on his Radio 1 show. Relation’s debut album ‘Fear Of Night’ will be out later in the year.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
