Happy July 4th weekend, everyone. Bar-b-que, tennis, sun, fireworks, is the name of the game for me this weekend. Heading out to a block party in about an hour or so. How about you folks?

I am reposting some older links for festivity tips - find them HERE & HERE

It`s a fairly quiet weekend down here and still raining.

i`m playing around with a wireless network and a little Thomson wireless modem out in my shed and it`s working OK with a fairly good signal....the missus is happy...this means no more untidy looking network cables running from the house to my lair...

Hello

Been ridiculously busy this past few weeks but hopefully I can stick me nose in a bit more often.

How is everyone? Anything to report?

And happy July 4th to anybody celebrating it!

No news is good news. Glad to see you hang up your hat here again B)

We didn't do much. Stayed home, surfed the net. She wanted to go see Transformers so we did that. I didn't think it was all that good. To put it another way, I want my money back but not near as bad as when I saw "War Of The Worlds". I thought that movie really sucked, especially since it was a Spielberg production. It is at the top of my "I want a refund" list.

You should have listened to Roger Ebert

You should have listened to Roger Ebert

I prefer to make my own judgements instead of letting someone else take care of that for me. Being a liberal and all, I am sure you wouldn't understand.

btw, you are right! I should have listened to somebody. :o

In my defense, I didn't pick the movie. My wifey made me go. I knew I should never listen to her!

Have you seen the movie? Or did you read the reviews and wisely skip it? I am easily entertained but that movie wasn't for me. I'd rather watch my Suburban rust. On the other hand, it was better than listening to a Neil Young album.

Ebert gave Transformers 1 star and War of the Worlds 2 stars. I would rate them the other way around.

Actually, it was a pretty good week-end. Went to the mud bog races Saturday, and grilled steaks in the park Sunday.

The mud bog races were pretty cool too!! I think Redneck might like this!! There sure were enough rednecks there!!

These aren't my pictures, but this is about what it looks like!! Still have to get my film processed.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
