The Valerie Collective is not just a music blog - it is a group of like-minded DJs and musicians from the West of France that fuse authentic 80s synths with modern indie/electronica. They sound like Daft Punk doing an '80s movie soundtrack... their tracks are startling in their consistency, mood and feel; they offer a sense of a time that never existed, but we all somehow understand... a future that once seemed possible. Their retro/futuristic artwork (by The Zonders) sums it up nicely. There are several artists under the collective's umbrella, (including College, Anoraak and Russ Chimes - all of whom will be performing, plus their friends Fear of Tigers). This will be official launch party for their eagerly awaited first compilation - and the buzz is out.

LIVE: RUSS CHIMES + ANORAAK + FEAR OF TIGERS + TESLA BOYS

DJS: COLLEGE + RUSS CHIMES + ANORAAK

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
