Satoshi Fumi: ‘Before Science EP’

1. ‘Ptoremaic’

2. ‘Synkirow’

3. ‘LightSystem’

Satoshi Fumi drew in plaudits from all quarters with his brand of mellifluous cosmic house on the ‘Treasure’ and ‘P.O.D.’ EPs. His impressive debut releases will take some beating, but on the ‘Before Science’ EP he takes off sublimely from where he left us with yet more mesmeric space-age melodious house music.

1. ‘Ptoremaic’ – Deep, dreamy, architecturally structured cosmic house to massage the soul.

2. ‘Synkirow’ – Deep tech house studded with starry melodies and splintering bleeps that builds into a full-on aural assault of galactic proportions.

3. ‘LightSystem’ – A proper party track that slides and groves superbly, light-hearted, but still teeming with lush melody.

Japan’s Satoshi Fumi burst onto the house scene in 2007 with the ‘Treasure EP’ on Urban Torque, supported by the likes of Pete Tong, Ben Watt and Funk D’Void. Since then, he’s had releases on various labels including Bedrock and Yoshitoshi. He is an extremely versatile artist and also producers other genres of electronic music under the aliases Owl, Deptech and Elektron.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
