Rage Against The Machine Show Halted By Police In St. Paul

Rage Against The Machine has planned to play a free set at St. Paul's Capitol Lawn following Anti-Flag at an anti-war concert in protest of the Republican National Convention. But things took a turn for the worse when the police wouldn't let them play, according to a story by City Pages.

In response, Zach de la Rocha and Tom Morello joined the crowd of 2-3000 in led them in sing-a-long of "Killing in the Name." Following the song, the band members led the crowd into the streets for a peaceful march. However, when the Rage parade intersected with the Poor Peoples' Human Rights Campaign march, some anarchists joined, only to be met by police tear gassing.

More Arrests At Official Concert

The Raw story reports that "police arrested 102 protesters in downtown Minneapolis early Thursday following a concert by the rock group Rage Against the Machine, raising to more than 400 the number arrested in demonstrations related to the Republican National Convention."

      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
