Have you tried Norton Ghost? I don't know shit about it but that is what people that I know are using. You can't copy the files that are being used so you can't copy the operating system but you can ghost the entire drive using that program. I had my son ghost my C drive once I got it up and running. I saved that file on other drives so if C drive dies I can easily have everything back to the way it was when I ghosted it, operating system and all. I don't know of any other way but there may be some better ones.
