TL;DR: As of Jan. 1, you can get a near-mint refurbished 2017 iPad (WiFi + Cellular) for only $139.99 instead of the usual $459. That's a savings of 69%.

There's a reason why the iPad is so popular. People love the convenience it provides for streaming, gaming, browsing, video conferencing, and more. And while its design hasn't changed much since it was introduced all those years ago, it's arguably still the sleekest, nicest-looking tablet there is.

If you don't have one in your possession just yet, this New Year treat might convince you. For a limited time, you can take home a like-new iPad for just $139.99 — no coupon necessary. Christmas may be over, but who's to say that you have to stop treating yourself?

This iPad comes from the 5th generation, packing a 9.7-inch Retina display that boasts a 2048x1536 resolution, resulting in 264ppi or 3.1 million pixels. Nerd speak aside, that simply means it can display content in stunning quality, allowing for more immersive browsing and streaming. It's powered by an Apple A9 chip that delivers fast and responsive performance, making multitasking easy. With 32B storage, you'll have no problem storing your essential files and media.

An 8-megapixel camera is built-in for capturing crystal-clear photos and videos, with a FaceTime HD camera to boot so you can hop on Zoom calls without looking like a Sim. It's also cellular unlocked, so you can connect to network data with a SIM card, but Wi-Fi is also available. Plus, it lasts up to ten hours on a single charge, so you can use it nearly the whole workday without rushing to a power outlet.

While this unit may not be brand-new, it doesn't mean it can't work like it's fresh off the shelves. It may be refurbished, but it comes with a grade "A" rating, meaning it's in near-mint condition.

Formerly retailing for $459, grab this 5th-generation iPad on sale for just $139.99

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
