Apple iPad 5 128GB (Refurbished: Wi-Fi Only) on a colorful background.

TL;DR: As of Nov. 17, you can get the Apple iPad 5 128GB (Refurbished: WiFi Only) for just $234.99 instead of $260 — that's a 9% discount.

Your student may have gone off to college, but that doesn't mean you can’t lend a little holiday help before the new semester starts. Classes often have students running all over campus, and heavy laptops can be a pain. This refurbished iPad 5 is a lightweight solution to keep your student connected without weighing them down, and it’s on sale for $234.99.

A lightweight device for school

Watch lectures or type out some notes on this certified like-new iPad. The only sign that this tablet isn’t brand-new is that it doesn’t come in the original box. You’ll still get to enjoy a 9.7-inch multi-touch screen that presents a responsive, convenient way to get all sorts of schoolwork done. Pair it with the right stylus, and your tablet could even be used for handwriting notes or art projects for class. Don’t have time to write everything down? Snap a picture of the board with the HD rear-facing camera.

The Apple A9 chip and 64-bit architecture make this a quality multitasking tablet for smooth switching between demanding apps. Slim and sturdy, this iPad weighs a little over a pound. That should leave plenty of room for books and other classroom necessities in your student’s bag. Pack the 128GB local storage with apps, assignments for class, and downloaded video lectures. If the local storage isn’t enough room for your student, they could expand it by connecting a cloud storage service

Save on a refurbished iPad for your college student on the go

Laptops are great for college, but they’re also heavy, and your student may not need something that big if they’re just taking notes and watching video lectures. You could make things a little lighter by getting your college kid a compact refurbished Apple iPad 5 while it’s on sale for just $234.99 (reg. $260).

Prices subject to change.
