TL;DR: As of August 15, you can get the 8-in-1 Maglight Mini Super Bright Utility Flashlight for just $17.99 instead of $29.99 — that's a 40% discount.

During the day, your college campus is probably bright and lively. At night, it might feel a bit more spooky, especially if you’re walking home alone from a late class or an even-later party. Between textbooks, technology, and a borderline-essential container for caffeine, you likely don’t have a ton of room to spare in your bag for a bulky flashlight. Luckily, you may not have to.

Instead of lugging around a large flashlight, you could clip a tiny one onto your keys. The 8-in-1 Maglight Mini Super Bright Utility Flashlight is a small, bright flashlight that has a whole list of extra features, and during our Back to Education event, it’s only $17.99 now through August 24.

A tiny utility flashlight that does more than just shine

At maximum, an iPhone’s flashlight is around 40-50 lumens. When you’re walking back to your dorm at night, that may not be enough to keep you feeling comfortable. In contrast, the 8-in-1 Maglight Mini can reach up to 800 lumens, and it has four light modes so you can choose between super bright, medium, low, and strobe.

Portable and compact, this little LED light has a runtime of up to 3.5 hours and recharges with a USB-C cable (included). The built-in carabiner could let you clip your light onto your keys or backpack. It also has its own kickstand if you need to set it down without compromising your lighting.

Lighting isn’t the only thing this utility flashlight can do, and some of its extra features may make it the ideal college companion, chief among them being that this flashlight also has its own bottle opener. The strong magnetic base also lets you attach your light to the hood of your car for midnight maintenance, and it has a mounting hole to attach to a tripod or some camera rigs.

It could be a bright idea to take this flashlight to college

During our Back to Education event ending August 24, the 8-in-1 Maglight Mini Super Bright Utility Flashlight is on sale for $17.99 (Reg. $29) — no coupon code needed. And for each unit purchased, 50 cents is donated to a school or children's charity you can vote on, so you can help kids in need further their education, too.

Prices subject to change.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
