With a genre-bending blend of bass house and the gritty edge of trap, Alex Bui, otherwise globally known as VON BUOYAGE, is championing his very own signature style that’s breaking through barriers and setting the stage for a total music revival. VON BUOYAGE’s cohesive sound is free from time, space, and constraints, and bridges the power of hard-hitting bass house with the raw attitude and tone of trap music. Endorsing the mantra of “stay buoyant,” there’s a powerful ambition behind every VON BUOYAGE track: to speak positive influence, encourage integrity and respect, and unite the masses through timeless sound.

We are thrilled to premiere VON BUOYAGE’s a sizzling new single, this time teaming up with vocalist Honey-B-Sweet for “You Ain’t Close“. The energy is infectious right from the start, as VON BUOYAGE expertely crafts a rumbling tech house groove cut with high energy wubs and sharp synth stabs. Honey then takes it a step higher with empowering, chest-beating vocals, giving this the feel of becoming the next club anthem.

“I’m so excited to share this song with the world. It is the perfect song to show what I’ve been working on and has come at the cusp of me discovering my sound. My favorite part of the song has to be the drop synth melody and, of course, Honey’s rapping. I think the song brings just the right amount of grit and fun energy to make a real crowd-pleaser. I’m very happy with how this one came out, and I hope the world enjoys it as much as I do!” – VON BUOYAGE

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
