EVANESCENCE loses two band members

Recommended Posts

Rumours that goth-rock act and recent New Zealand visitors Evanescence are set to split have flooded the internet after two members left the band.

Drummer Rocky Gray said he had resigned and guitarist John LeCompt claimed to have been fired from the American band, leaving singer Amy Lee, guitarist Terry Balsamo and bassist Tim McCord.

As rumours that the band was splitting spread, Lee denied Evanescence was on the rocks on the band's official website.

"Evanescence is alive and well. John and Rocky were in Evanescence for four years and we shared some great times together playing live, but they were ready to move on and so we have parted ways," Lee said.

"Evanescence is something I have loved and nurtured since I was fourteen, and I will continue to protect and fight for it as I always have."

Lee said no shows would be cancelled. The band recently played two sold-out shows at Auckland's St James.

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
