TL;DR: As of Jan. 23, the PhiGolf Mobile & Home Smart Golf Simulator with Swing Stick is on sale for $229 instead of $249. That's a discount of 8%.

Whether your swing suffers from the time off or you just really miss hitting the course with your friends, winter is rough when you’re a golfer. The off-season doesn’t have to bring your game to a screeching halt, though. With the Indiegogo-funded PhiGolf Mobile and Home Smart Golf Simulator, you can play golf year-round from the comfort of your home, or just about anywhere else.

Part video game and part swing practice, the PhiGolf uses a swing stick trainer as the controller and a built-in sensor to recreate your real-world performance on the screen. By simply swinging the imitation club as you normally would on the course, you can get a read on your accuracy and strength. No net or balls necessary.

With the WGT app, you can mirror your smartphone or tablet screen onto your TV or projector and truly immerse yourself in the playing experience. Beyond simply practicing your swing, you can select from photorealistic simulations of world-famous golf courses and even duke it out on a virtual course with your friends in multiplayer mode or even strangers across the globe. It’s almost like the real thing. You just need someone serving up drinks — or a cooler full of beer — to keep you hydrated.

See it in action:

Lightweight and portable, it’s easy to set up an immersive game of golf from just about anywhere, not just at home. Bring it to a friend’s house, the office, or even on a business trip to fit in a round in between meetings. Anywhere you have an internet connection and a decent amount of space, you can hit the green.

While the price isn't quite as low as it was when we featured it on Memorial Day last year, you can still score a discount if you act fast. Usually $249, you can snag the PhiGolf Simulator on sale for $229 for a limited time.

Prices subject to change.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
