The best pre-Black Friday Dyson deals as of Oct. 20:

Robot vacuums are often in the spotlight for Black Friday. Their automated convenience is undeniably sweet, but for some, a Roomba just can't compare to the manual vacuuming experience.

If you have your eye on a Dyson, Black Friday 2021 should be a good time to shop for one, especially if you're planning on cord-cutting. Dyson has rearranged its stick vacuum lineup since last Black Friday, so even those upgrading from an older Dyson vacuum could find a discount on a fancier model. The evidence? A $250 discount on the beastly Dyson Outsize at Best Buy.

Perhaps harder than tracking down the Dysons on sale for Black Friday is confirming which models are even still in circulation. This determines which discounts are actually legit and which prices have been slashed for the past year because the vacuum is an old model. For help, check out our comparison guide to Dyson's current stick, ball, canister, and handheld vacs.

If your cleaning powers need a boost before gathering with guests for Thanksgiving, a few Dyson stick vacuums are already on sale. (There's also this pretty big list of early robot vacuum deals.) Walmart and Best Buy have already announced early Black Friday plans — we can expect new deals to drop on a nearly daily basis.

Here are the best Roomba deals live as of Oct. 20:

Dyson V8 Fluffy — $299 (save $100)

After the Dyson V7 was discontinued, the V8 series became Dyson's most budget-friendly tier of stick vacuums. The V8 Fluffy has the same 40-minute battery life, digital motor V8, and lightweight maneuverability as other V8s, plus a soft motorhead that's gentle on hardwood floors.

Dyson Outsize Total Clean — $699.99 (save $250)

Spending around $700 on a vacuum will get you a hell of a lot of juice — and a hell of a lot of caked-in debris and pet hair out of your carpets. The Dyson Outsize Total Clean could technically be considered the V11. Dyson's bulkiest, most powerful stick vacuum shells out 220 Air Watts of suction power and holds half a gallon worth of debris. It includes one cleaner head and a handful of attachments.

Our more ambitious Black Friday wishes include a sale on Dyson's high-tech hair tools like the Supersonic hair dryer and Corrale straightener, or for the Dyson V15 Detect vacuum to simply be restocked. Fingers crossed.

This post will be updated throughout the holiday shopping season.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
