Founding Eagles member Bernie Leadon is about to release his first new record in 26 years.

Leadon's 'Mirror' album was made under the production expertise of Ethan Johns, best known recently for his work with Ryan Adams. Co-incidentally, Johns father Glyn produced the first few Eagles albums when Bernie was a member.

Work commenced on 'Mirror' late in 2002. When asked why he decided to go back to the studio after more than two and a half decades, Leadon says "The main reason was simply to do it. It was time."

The album was recorded in California's Ocean Way Studio.

Leadon's band includes David Kemper (Dylan, Jerry Garcia Band), electric and upright bassist Michael Rhodes, Memphis stringed-thing wizard Tommy Burroughs (Keith Sykes, John Prine) and keyboardist James Hooker (Amazing Rhythm Aces, Nanci Griffith). His old friend Emmylou Harris sings on "Backup Plan" and "God Ain't Done With Me Yet."

Bernie Leadon was in The Eagles from their beginning in 1972 and up until 1975. He is credited with vocals, guitar (acoustic, electric, and pedal steel), banjo and mandolin and contributed to the songwriting. The four albums he was part of were 'The Eagles' (1972), 'Desperado' (1973), 'On The Border' (1974) and 'One of these Nights' (1975).

When he left the band, because of their never ending touring schedule, Bernie was replaced with Joe Walsh.

The Eagles came about when he was a member of Linda Ronstadt's backing band. Two of the other members were Don Henley and Glenn Frey.

'Mirror' will be released on March 25.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
