6 personal finance podcasts that won't bore you to death

Unless you studied finance, learning how to balance your checkbook, invest in stocks, and save for retirement is no easy task. A large swath of people in the U.S. simply don't know much about their own personal finance.

According to data from the S&P Global FinLit Survey, conducted by the World Bank, Gallup, and George Washington University, the U.S. was ranked 14th globally in its citizens' financial literacy. The research also found that just 57 percent of American adults are financially literate.

Thankfully, there are podcasts designed to solve the finance educational gap. For auditory learners, podcasts can be the perfect vehicles to learn more about your personal finance and, eventually, put that knowledge to good use and create more wealth. Here are a few of our favorites. Read more...

The best opportunity to learn about money management is to hire a financial coach. Like how a personal trainer teaches you how to eat better and exercise, financial coaches can help you make better financial decisions by guiding you. I hired last year a qualified personal financial coach. I was delighted with all that I've learned. With a coach, you can get advice on saving more, investing more, paying off debt faster, etc. To see patterns in your spending and guiding you to identify areas where you're getting stuck.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
