Dragonforce-Through the fire and flames

Sir Droopy

A high energy song off their third album, Inhuman Rampage. This group is a bit different for a power metal group as they have positive messages in their songs and you can actually understand what the singer is saying.

Some of the fastest guitar play you'll ever see.

On the contrary, Sir Droopy. There are many sub-genres of metal. If you've listened to any Helloween during the past two decades, you'd hear the similarities. While the lyrics are understandable here, they are a bit simplistic also. Not that this is negative in any way. My primary focus is on the music and I will say I am quite impressed with the skills involved here. I would label them more as progressive speed than power.

As far as a Helloween recommendation, I would say either of the Keeper of the Seven Keys albums, circa '87-'88.

lol

I see how you could be misled.

Once again, quite the contrary. I once thought of them as "Happy Metal."

For example:

"Future World"

[Hansen]

If you're out there all alone

And you don't know where to go to

Come and take a trip with me to Future World

And if you're running through your life

And you don't know what the sense is

Come and look how it could be, in Future World

We all live in happiness our life is full of joy

We say the world "tomorrow" without fear

The feeling of togetherness is always at our side

We love our life and we know we will stay

[Chorus]

Cause we all live in Future World

A world that's full of love

Our future life will be glorious

Come with me - Future World

You say you'd like to stay,

But this is not your time

Go back, find your own way to Future World

Life can be for living

Just try and never give in

Tell everyone the way of Future World

One day you'll live in happiness

With a heart that's full of joy

You'll say the world "tomorrow" without fear

The feeling of togetherness will be at your side

You'll say you love your life and you'll know why

[Chorus]

[solo]

[both / Kai / both]

[scream it out]

[Chorus]

I would hightly recommend the 13+ minute song "Halloween." The number of solos and tempo changes are awesome.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
