“Gemini” is an absolute classic of What So Not’s, and the first release after Flume announced he had departed the project. Now, six years later almost to the day, OMAS & Dani King have breathed new life into the track.

At the height of future bass, “Gemini” was a mellow anthem within the genre. Blissful arpeggios and reverberating synths against George Maple’s iconic voice made it an instant hit. And while the soul of the track is left intact on OMAS & Dani King’s recreation, it brings in their own styles beautifully.

A bass build replaces the smooth, piano-led drop of the original as it leads into a hard trap section with familiar chords but all new instrumentation. For those who like their What So Not with a little more heat, this is the perfect cover for you.

Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
