Chavez Warns Bush Administration

Amid a wave of opposition protests aimed at winning a recall vote against him, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has told the US administration to "get its hands off Venezuela", accusing the Bush government of attempting to topple his leadership.

The left-wing president says that the US is behind the recent unrest which has seen eight people killed and, according to him, is the second attempt in two years to unseat him. He is urging the international community to act to save his authority.

His country is the worlds fifth largest oil exporter and the fourth largest petroleum supplier to the US. The American reaction was to accuse the Venezuelan president of trying to distract attention from his own domestic issues.

Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
