Critics and pop music fans have been watching Sacramento closely as the powerful voice that is Serenity Lynn began to make moves last year. With her first single “Perfect” in 2018, Lynn showed that her voice not only packed a punch but that she could write a great pop folk song. Now she’s really started to hone her pop chops with her newest single, “U and Me.”

With a backing track that’s mostly comprised of house with a little future bass for good measure, Serenity Lynn turned the love song that is “U and Me” int a punchy pop anthem along with producer Cameron Nadler. In her vocals, that folk-inspired melody is still present in this track, however, so the pairing with pop production is done by speeding up the vox but not so much that the nuance there is lost. It’s light, fun and age appropriate for the teen Lynn but still showcases her soulful style.

“Perfect” wasn’t released with the same fanfare as “U and Me” but it once again shows Serenity Lynn’s songwriting chops and lyrical gift. From here, the young songstress could go really anywhere as her sound is versatile and mature. While “U and Me” is fun and pop-tinged, if the EDM crowd gets a hold of her, there’s no telling where she could go from here.

“U and Me” is out now and available to stream or buy on multiple platforms by clicking here. Check out a video of Serenity Lynn performing “Perfect” on her website or below.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
