‘Grunge House’ innovator Saint Punk is back with his newest single, “Molotov Cocktail,” a blistering house tune with a social action message attached.

Teasing the song yesterday, Saint Punk wrote: “Sending this to the LAPD who fired tear gas on peaceful protesters. Who beat them with batons. This goes to the NYPD for running people over with their cruisers. To the federal militia who kidnapped people from the streets of Portland and New York. To every city who’s citizens were welcomed with aggression by their own PD. To the murderers of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tamir Rice, Eric Garner……every murderer wearing a badge. Finally to the White House. Suck on something else Russian. This is a full send.”

The track conveys the frustration and anger that hundreds of thousands have felt attending protests across the country in response to decades of police violence against the black community. But as a standalone dance track, it’s also ridiculously fun and catchy. It’s bass house with a noticeable grunge twist, a sort of dirty underbelly that delivers an extra dose of grit and texture to the whole project.

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
