You would be hard pressed to find another DJ who’s been busier during the COVID-19 pandemic than Kaskade. He’s been releasing a steady stream of music and has been one of the most active artists in terms of live streams. Now, the legendary producer is back with another new track “Pow Pow Pow.” Always keen on new talent, this time Kaskade enlists upcoming Brazilian production duo Chemical Surf for this high energy tech-house banger. Chemical Surf recently caught Martin Garrix’s ear, as they’ve been releasing on Garrix’s STMPD label.

“Pow Pow Pow” definitely highlights that Brazilian bass sound that’s become popular over the years. There’s booming, almost trap-like horns in the song’s intro, from there it’s pure tech-house bliss, with a pulsating bassline and the quirky computer vocal saying “Turn that bass like pow pow pow.” The second drop hits even harder as the bass just takes on another level. “Pow Pow Pow” is one of those tracks that’s utterly danceable and just gets you grooving. Here’s what Chemical Surf had to say about working with Kaskade.

“We produced the first version of this song in 2017, with Hugo’s vocals, but we were not completely satisfied with the instrumental part of it so we never released it. With plenty of time to work in the studio due to the quarantine, we decided to modernize the song with a new drop. We sent the new version to Kaskade, who liked it a lot. So it made sense for him to work on ‘Pow Pow Pow’ along with us. This collaboration has made the track perfect” – Chemical Surf

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
