If all you want to do is convert from .wav to mp3, then all the aforementioned software is quite adequate.

However, if you are dedicated to creating and editing music on your PC, then your should really try Sound Forge. It will do just about anything you can imagine as far as editing a piece of digital work.

It's not freeware, but you can either buy it online/compusa, or find a good copy on your favorite p2p ot bittorrent site...

[edit] Also, the aforementioned link has a free trial.

Hi all

If you want to convert .wav to .mp3, then you can use CD-DA X-Tractor. This is a fantastic open source development product that includes a ripper and incorporates the latest LAME mp3 converter. It also provides Ability to encode to the OGG Vorbis format.

But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
