Last year, we raved about Conrank’s debut album, What’s a FKNG Conrank? He’s released a number of singles since, but the one today out on Circus Records, “Ooba,” is just on another level.

There’s hardly a build before it just plummets you into a cacophony of bass. That being said, the build is especially important in how it builds suspense, using what sounds like modulated horns to punctuate the air, bringing in more horns and synths little by little to truly ramp it up. And then the drop hits you like concrete from 20,000 ft up in the air, penetrating right to the depths of your chest.

I’ll admit the first time I heard the drop at full volume on my speakers, I let out an audible, “Oh my GOD.” While I would have liked a little variation in the second drop, hearing more of the same when it’s this good isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Check out “Ooba” below!

But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
