Blanke Releases “Fragile Violence” with Nevve

Honestly, I’m running out of good things to say about Blanke. I don’t think there’s been a single release of his in the past year that I’ve declined to cover or haven’t absolutely loved. His new release with Nevve, “Fragile Violence,” is one of his most emotional compositions yet and contributes to his growing catalogue of stellar originals that could easily see him play an all-original set by just the end of this year.

While it might be easy to make comparisons between “Fragile Violence” and many songs from Illenium or Dabin, who no doubt influenced this sound as he spent time with them on tour, I urge you to look deeper. Blanke has also been making this style before going on tour with Illenium, and this single is particularly indicative of his strength at production. The lead synth in the drop is fantastically rich and lush; paired with Nevve’s anthemic vocal style and the thunderous drums, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Illenium remix Blanke for once.

On the inspiration behind the song, Blanke explains, “I’m proud to present my new single with Nevve, Fragile Violence. I’ve wanted to collaborate with Nevve for years now so I’m very glad to have created this with them. It’s emotive and anthemic and I hope you love it as much as we do.”

You can currently catch Blanke playing this song live as he joins Black Tiger Sex Machine on their national tour (dates below). Listen to “Fragile Violence” now!

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
