Residing somewhere between ambient electronica, techno and emotive house music, you’ll find Sydney trio The Nights. The group consists of Tom Marland, Rob Campbell, and Walter Flamenco. Among the three of them is an immense pool of talent. They are picking up quite a bit of momentum, with their ‘Beyond Desire’ EP peaking at #2 on Spotify’s Australia Viral Top 50, #3 on iTunes Electronic Chart, and #1 on the Electronic Chart for Triple J Unearthed.

In the past two years, The Nights have had a crazy journey. One studio burnt to the ground and one completely flooded, and yet they’ve still managed to release a stream of records that have earned support from the likes of RÜFÜS DU SOL and Horse Meat Disco. International tastemakers such as Triple J have knocked on their door for curated mixes (where they also won the coveted RÜFÜS DU SOL remix competition), and received extensive praise from outlets à la Magnetic Magazine and Future Classic Recommends as well.

We are thrilled to premiere their brand new, highly anticipated single “Without You”, that is nothing short of the excellence we’ve been hearing from this trio. In their words, this song is “a cathartic celebration of letting go of toxicity”, featuring pulsating house chords with carefully selected vocal samples, mirroring the experience of exhilaration in rediscovering one’s self. True to their words, “Without You” is an intoxicating single that you can’t help but want to play over and over again.

We’re excited to hear more from these guys this year. In the meantime, stream “Without You” by The Nights below!

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
