Ahem: The latest 9.7-inch iPad is up to $100 off at Walmart right now

"Get an iPad for under $300!" sounds like a sketchy ad from those buying and selling sites that play on daytime television.

But this time, it's legit: Walmart's sale on the latest 9.7-inch iPad puts the 128 GB model at $329 ($100 off) and the 32 GB model at just $249.99 ($80 off). Both models also come with free two-day shipping.

(If you're not an Apple person, Amazon is having a huge sale on Fire tablets for Mother's Day. This week is a good week to a buy a tablet.)

Simply referred to as "iPad," this mid-2018 iPad was aimed toward education and purposefully priced as Apple's most affordable iPad yet. But in terms of specs, you're actually getting way more than what you're paying for: It's significantly more powerful than the older models (but still manages a 10-hour battery life), has a crisp  2,048 x 1,536 Retina display, and is the first non-Pro model to work with the Apple Pencil.     • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
