Microsoft Settlement Rejected By EU

A source familiar with the ongoing battle between the Microsoft Corp. and the EU has said that the European Commission rejected Microsoft's settlement proposal today in the anti-trust case being held against the software giant.

Microsoft had proposed to place its competitors software onto a CD-ROM that would then be sold with computers, however the Commission said that the CD-ROM proposal was an ineffective method of distribution.

The rejection of the proposal was first reported by the Financial Times. According to the initial draft of the anti-trust decision, made by the Commission, the EU finds that MS abused its power by bundling its Media Player into Windows software.
