'This Is Us' Season 2 premiere reveals how Jack dies, but there's a twist

This post contains spoilers for the Season 2 premiere of This Is Us, titled "A Father's Advice."

The Season 2 premiere of This Is Us finally revealed how Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) died, but of course, there was a twist.

In a case of be careful what you wish for, the new episode, titled "A Father's Advice," showed us the manner of Jack's death — a house fire that decimated the Pearson family home — but not the when or why. 

Instead, we see distraught, teenage versions of Kate and Randall sobbing on the couch at Miguel's house, while Kevin is conspicuously absent — he's out somewhere with Sophie, sporting a broken leg, completely oblivious to the trauma unraveling in his family. Elsewhere, we see Rebecca driving alone with what seems to be a bag of Jack's personal effects in the backseat, before she pulls up outside their incinerated house and breaks down in agonized tears.       You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
