Self Destructing SMS

Mobile phone users can now send text messages that self- destruct seconds after you have read them.

StealthText is aimed at businessmen who need to swap sensitive information.

But it could also come in handy for love cheats who don't want their partner to read what they're up to.

The service destroys texts within 40 seconds of being read - like the messages played to agents in the Mission Impossible TV series and movies.

Until now it has always been up to the receiver to decide whether to keep messages on their phone. This new system puts the onus on the sender, though both have to sign up to the service.

The receiver doesn't get the message itself, but a link which they have to open. They then have 40 seconds to read the message before it disappears.

Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
