A person who calls himself "SonySux", wrote this in the SonyMusic forums:

"Sony Music,

Congratulations, you managed to get this album past me.

1) When I put the CD into my PC’s CD reader, the tracks wouldn’t show up in Windows Media Player, I instead had to screw around with the worthless app that comes with the CD to get it rip the tracks to my PC. Strike 1.

2) The app that comes with the CD rips at 1mph. Tops. Strike 2.

3) I have Creative Labs Zen Xtra 30gb and tried to send the songs to my MP3/WMA player. No dice. My software just refuses to send it. I now have to START SURFING THE WEB TO FIGURE OUT HOW I CAN GET THE MUSIC I PAID FOR ON TO MY OWN DIGITAL MUSIC PLAYER!!!!!! Strike 3.

Three strikes and you’re out!

I now know what to look for on the back of a CD. I now see the warning. Guess what, I’m not buying anymore CDs with those warnings!!!!! Period. Sony, you just lost a customer unless you straighten up!"

My son bought a cd that was copy protected so he couldn't rip it easily and make an mp3 cd to play in his car. I was going to rip it for him but he said don't bother. In a couple of minutes he downloaded it from p2p site.

The only reason he bought it was he wanted the liner notes and shit that came with it. I wish he would boycott copy protected cds and generally he doesn't buy them. This one was an exception. He bought it knowing it was "copy protected" which really means it is "buyer aggravated".

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
