britney_.jpgBritney Spears has topped a poll of the most irritating singers for shop workers to listen to whilst at work.

In a chart compiled by Retailchoice, 1,400 staff also named Usher and Kylie Minogue as annoying artists.

A third of the respondents said that they were forced to listen to the same CD being played up to 20 times a week, while a half of those who took part in the poll also said that customers had complained about loud music playing in store.

The survey found that staff working in fashion and shoe shops were the most likely to be subject to enforced listening to annoying music, and that the singers branded as the 'most annoying' were also those whose albums were played repeatedly.

Notice that all the "annoying" music is top 40 pop/R&B bullshit.

This begs a question, how does something become tops on some popularity chart when a lot of people find it so annoying to listen to?

It's because the industry controls the chart's make-up, and it's not about good music and real opinion.

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
