Tricks of the trade

Yup, the tried and true old clicking hard drive in the freezer trick that has served me well over the years, upon hearing a coworkers problem with a hard drive I offered up the old last resort trick as advice and sometime after that weekend this was the e-mail I received.

Well I tried out the “freeze the malfunctioning hard drive” trick and it didn’t seem to work out too well for me. My grandmother’s pc died and I attempted to recover some data by freezing the non functional hard drive but never had any success with it.

I even tried putting the hard drive in the pc as well as an external USB hard drive case.

I attached some pics of how I had things setup, take a look at them and see if I was doing this right.

Thanks,

- Ryan

I don't know if some data can be recovered with low-temperature....but i don't think ryan understood the correct method. (if isn't a fake...)

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
