Charlie Major - It Can't Happen to Me Lyrics

I had a friend

He didn't make it home last night

He went out on the town

And he had himself a time

When it was time for leaving, he was much too tight

He climbed behind the wheel and it cost him his life

He thought he knew better, the odds he could beat

He said, "I'll make it alright, don't you worry 'bout me"

It can't

It can't happen to me

I got an angel watching over me

It can't

It can't happen to me

It's always someone else, you see

It can't

Can't happen to me

It can't happen to me

I knew a young man

He had it all going his way

But he carried with him

A deep seeded pain

He stepped over the line to find some escape

They found him one night - Lying face down in the rain

He thought he was stronger - the odds he could beat

He said, "I'll make it alright, don't you worry 'bout me"

Chorus

I wish I had a dollar for every time I've heard it said

"They'll never get to me, cause I'm quicker than the rest"

The night is closing in and the hounds are at my heels

But, I'm always one step ahead

Chorus

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
