Deafheaven’s George Clarke, Dana Wachs Share 20-Minute New Song: Listen

Deafheaven’s George Clarke has teamed-up with Dana Wachs (Vorhees) for “RVIII: Invocation.” It’s a 20-minute ambient track for the performance art piece Rural Violence III (Rebirth) by former Pitchfork editor Brandon Stosuy. Stream the track below. It’s loosely based on the 1998 Matthew Shepard incident, and proceeds from the release will be donated to the Matthew Shepard Foundation, which “focuses on LGBTQ rights and youth awareness.” Support the cause on the Wachs & Clarke Bandcamp page. Rural Violence III (Rebirth) is taking place August 6 in Wyoming at a location that will be disclosed upon RSVP. It’s also set to feature Angel Deradoorian, Prurient, works by Matthew Barney, and more.

Read Pitchfork’s feature on Deafheaven, “Hate It or Love It: The Return of Deafheaven—Metal’s Most Divisive Band.”

Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
