Tens of Thousands Protest Netflix’s Expanding VPN-Blockade

[img]http://torrentfreak.com/images/netflix-logo.png[/img]Last month Netflix announced that it would increase its efforts to [url="https://torrentfreak.com/netflix-announces-crackdown-on-vpn-and-proxy-pirates-160114/"]block customers[/url] who circumvent geo-blockades.

As a result it has become harder to use VPN services and proxies to access Netflix content from other countries, something various movie studios have [url="https://torrentfreak.com/why-netflix-vpn-pirates-shouldnt-terrify-hollywood-160116/"]repeatedly called for[/url].

With the application of commercial blacklist data, Netflix already blocks IP-addresses that are linked to such services, something which also affects well-intentioned customers who merely use a [url="https://torrentfreak.com/anonymous-vpn-service-provider-review-2015-150228/"]VPN to protect their privacy[/url].

Instead of providing access to the latest video entertainment, Netflix then serves the following error message to these blocked users.

      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
