Home-grown strippers have struck back at Teazers owner Lolly Jackson after he heaped infamy on them, accusing them of being "too sleazy" and recruiting Russian and Bulgarian replacements.

Gigi - a working showgirl, owner of the Lollipop Lounge in Randburg and theatre entrepreneur - says "we already have such a high unemployment rate in this country and our own girls do this for a living".

Her confirmed view is that "most of these girls have lives when they leave the club, some even have kids they support. They pay tax."

Jackson said earlier this month that local strippers had brought the sex business into disrepute with their "wild ways and unacceptable drug habits".

It's obviously not really about "morals"; that's just his cover.

What he thinks he sees is a trend that the strippers in question are found repulsive in some way by his customers or potential customers (due to drugs, "wild ways", etc).

Trust me, it's about the bottom line. You think he would care otherwise?

You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
