  7. The originall title used 'Retarded' Sister rather than mentally challenged or what have you. Based on LOTD's prompt, I thought that it required more dignity--hence the current title
  8. Two Musical Revivals Bank on Stars From Beyond Broadway By JESSE McKINLEY Published: January 8, 2005 It's been a rough couple of years for Broadway musical revivals, with a series of high-profile financial failures, including "Gypsy," "Man of La Mancha" and "Wonderful Town." What each of those shows had in common were stars like Bernadette Peters, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Donna Murphy, all of whom had respected theatrical résumés but lacked lasting box office punch. Theater fans might have cared, but the general public, it seemed, did not. And so it is that the producers of a forthcoming revival of "The Pajama Game" have tapped a name that they hope has more mainstream appeal: (such as) Harry Connick You can read more here: Jrhttp://www.nytimes.com/2005/01/08/theater/newsandfeatures/08paja.html?8hpib

  13. Butt out: Fox nixes Super Bowl backside ad By Ann Oldenburg, USA TODAY A year after Janet Jackson's breast brought a crackdown on indecency, Fox has rejected an ad for the Super Bowl offering a rare view of another celeb: Mickey Rooney's backside. "Our standards department reviewed the ad and it was deemed inappropriate for broadcast," says Lou d'Ermilio, spokesman for Fox Sports. It is, after all, nudity. http://usatoday.printthis.clickability.com...&partnerID=1662
  14. Country music sales up 12 percent in 2004 - - - - - - - - - - - - John Gerome Jan. 7, 2005 | NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Country music fans continue to be a fickle bunch. Country sales were up 12 percent last year, with three albums among the year's overall top sellers _ a good year on Music Row. But 2004 follows a drop in 2003, a spike in 2002, a nudge up in 2001, and dips in 2000 and 1999. Does anyone really know where the genre is headed? 15. Boys detail lurid acts of alleged sexual abuse in sealed court, police, grand jury records JANUARY 6--While jury selection is scheduled to begin later this month, specific details of the criminal molestation case against Michael Jackson have been shrouded through a judicial gag order, heavily redacted legal filings, sealed court proceedings, and other secrecy measures. But now, for the first time, The Smoking Gun has compiled an authoritative, behind-the-scenes account of the prosecution's case against the King of Pop, who was indicted last April on ten felony counts for the alleged sexual abuse of a Los Angeles boy in early 2003. This story (and the ones linked at right) are based on a review of confidential law enforcement and government reports, grand jury testimony, and sealed court records provided to TSG by sources. http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/010605jackson.html
  16. 003 condom licensed to thrill By Ryann Connell Staff Writer January 6, 2005 When Keiji Ikeda was told 25 years ago that he been given the sack, he thought he'd been fired, but actually he'd been handed the position that has since allowed him to develop the world's thinnest condom, according to Shukan Post (1/14-21). Ikeda headed the 15-member team that developed the 003 for Okamoto Condoms, one of Japan's largest prophylactic manufacturers. Okamoto's 003 is licensed to thrill, at 0.03mm it's just half the thickness of the next closest weinerhosen on the market, which it also dominates, having sold more than 2 million skins since it was unsheathed in November 2003. http://mdn.mainichi.co.jp/waiwai/0501/0106dinger.html
