  1. He definitely was in Pig's Heaven - but nah, wasnt me - why is it that people always confuse me with the English dude, M.I.?
  2. That's pathetic. The man spoke 11 languages and reached out to the world. I think sometimes that people expect too much of our leaders..
  3. Pope John Paul II's mixed legacy Catholic scholar Mary Segers discusses Pope John Paul II's important role in Eastern Europe, failure to acknowledge women's independence, and belief that real Christianity thrived only in poor countries. http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2005/04/...gacy/index.html ... This interview/article seems like a fair assesment of Pope John Paul. Check it out and see if you agree..
  4. Hybrid-Car Tinkerers Scoff at No-Plug-In Rule By DANNY HAKIM Published: April 2, 2005 DETROIT, April 1 - Ron Gremban and Felix Kramer have modified a Toyota Prius so it can be plugged into a wall outlet. This does not make Toyota happy. "I've gotten anywhere from 65 to over 100 miles per gallon," said Mr. Gremban, an engineer at CalCars, a small nonprofit group based in Palo Alto, Calif. He gets 40 to 45 miles per gallon driving his normal Prius. And EnergyCS, a small company that has collaborated with CalCars, has modified another Prius with more sophisticated batteries; they claim their Prius gets up to 180 m.p.g. and can travel more than 30 miles on battery power. http://nytimes.com/2005/04/02/business/02plug.html?8hpib
  5. Nah - I was just sampling from the link you provided. ;)
  6. Nice tight funk band - thanx for the post, rocker...
  7. There is more upstairs with Dolly than meets the eye - she was a pretty good songwriter in her day, and unlike a lot of stars, humble and courteous throughout her career
  8. True - the church has its shortcomings. That said, the man was not just the spokesman for those points of view - he did some good things as well...and they should be saluted
  9. I'm sure there is - and you can bet Sirhan Sirhan didnt do it alone..
  10. Here's his obituary from the NY Times. I think he should be credited with helping bring the end to communism... http://nytimes.com/2005/04/01/internationa...artner=homepage
  11. Wrong again, PainInTheNeck4Sure. The school district does want to incorporate parts of the old structure--it's your conservative friends The Kennedy's, who want it torn down :fight: Here's a look at the building in its hey-day: http://www.hollywoodusa.co.uk/ambassador-hotel.htm
  12. As someone who believes in historical preservation, I would like to see it saved as much as possible. The building was up for grabs for awhile - Trump almost bought it. The school district has has been working on a plan for a number of years - they just are not very organized. Frankly, it makes no sense just to tear something down, if the existing structure can fit into the new plans. Not sure why support of such a plan, makes me a do-gooder--I just dont like crappy new buildings, or destroying something that is already worthwhile and useable. On a side note, Bobby Shriver recently ran for a local office in the area...not sure whether or not the district would have included where the Ambassador sits.
  13. Im trying to track this down. It is true that Ulrich stepped in to mediate with Sony saying that he believes the band should be free to paraody whoever they like. Here's the story from NPR: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4533853 Ok - here's the lowdown on the update/and this article: http://www.metalunderground.com/news/detai...fm?newsid=12904
  14. Might have made sense if Buchanon had carrots sticking out his ears...what ever happened to throwing pies - at least its more fun in spirit? Pat's ok - but Ms Coulter, deserves to be drenched in car oil
  15. The hotel is not far from me. It's not just the hotel where Bobby Kennedy was shot it's a link to Hollywood's Golden era and I feel that it should be saved as much as possible

  18. There's No Sex In the Champagne Room - Chris Rock *** Left The Music (mark Rae Remix) byFunky Lowlives
  19. Chris Rock's spoof on the silly Sunscreen, the advice of which has no more depth than that poster of the kitten that says "Hang In There" on it. Severely edited when broadcast on the radio and MTV, here are the words of Rock's moving graduation speech... Ladies and gentlemen of the G.E.D. class of 1999, I have one piece of advice for you: No matter what a stripper tells you, there's no sex in the Champagne Room. None. Oh, there's champagne in the Champagne Room, but you don't want champagne. You want sex. And there's no sex in the champagne room. Don't go to parties with metal detectors. Sure, it feels safe inside, but what about all those niggaz wiggin' outside wit' guns? They know you ain't got one. If a woman tells you she's 20, and looks 16, she's 12. If she tells you she's 26, and looks 26, she's damn near 40! Take off that silly-ass hat. The ODB couldn't have possibly committed all those crimes. Coolio did some of that shit. Young black men, if you go to a movie theater, and someone steps on your foot, let it slide. Why spend the next 20 years in jail 'cause someone smudged your Puma? Cornbread - ain't nothin' wrong with that! No matter what you think of what I'm saying, remember this one thing: there is no sex in the Champagne Room! If a homeless person has a funny sign, he hasn't been homeless that long. A real homeless person is too hungry to be funny. If a girl has a pierced tongue, she'll probably suck your dick. If a guy has a pierced tongue, he'll probably suck your dick. Here's a horoscope for everyone: Aquarius - You're gonna die Capricorn - You're gonna die Gemini - You're gonna die twice Leo - You're gonna die Scorpio - You're gonna die fuckin' No one goes to Hooters for wings. If you've been dating a guy for 4 months, and you haven't met any of his friends, you are not his girlfriend! Some of the things I've said may not apply to you. Some of the things I've said may offend you. But no matter who you are, you must remember this one thing: No matter what a stripper says, there's no sex in the Champagne Room. None. http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=141124
  20. Bump - pretty cool game here
  21. Amazon Editorial Review A true phenomenon in sound encompassing hip hop, soul, and the best blunted beats all mingled to perfection by Farina himself. To the uninitiated, Mark is the master of the blend. Urb Magazine voted him "Best Dance DJ" in their recent January/February issue, and BPM Magazine proclaimed, "For many downtempo fans, 'Mushroom Jazz' is where it all began." The new album features new and unreleased material from the finest in Mushroom Jazz, and includes a bumpin' new original track, "Cali Spaces". You can sample it here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=glance&s=music
  22. DeLay ponders impeachment against Schiavo judges - - - - - - - - - - - - Jennifer Loven April 1, 2005 | WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Majority Leader Tom DeLay on Thursday blamed Terri Schiavo's death on what he contended was a failed legal system and he raised the possibility of trying to impeach some of the federal judges in the case. "The time will come for the men responsible for this to answer for their behavior," said DeLay, R-Texas. But a leading Democratic senator said DeLay's comments were "irresponsible and reprehensible." Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., said DeLay should make sure that people know he is not advocating violence against judges. DeLay, the second-ranking House GOP lawmaker, helped lead congressional efforts 10 days ago to enact legislation designed to prod the federal courts into ordering the reinsertion of Schiavo's feeding tube. He said the courts' refusal to do just that was a "perfect example of an out of control judiciary." Asked about the possibility of the House's bringing impeachment charges against judges in the Schiavo case, DeLay said, "There's plenty of time to look into that." http://www.salon.com/news/wire/2005/04/01/delay/index.html
