  1. Carter Rails Against Bush During Book Tour KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Former President Jimmy Carter questioned the direction of the country and sharply criticized the Bush administration in a book tour stop here. "Everywhere you go, you hear, 'What has happened to the United States of America? We thought you used to be the champion of human rights. We thought you used to protect the environment. We thought you used to believe in the separation of church and state,'" the Nobel Peace Prize winner said Friday at Unity Temple. "That's not the case anymore." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051112/ap_on_...h/carter_bush_1 None of the above represent the wishes of the American people at large - as soon as we can get these relious nuts out of power, all these policies will be reversed

  6. Nov. 12 Caught Rickie Lee Jones for her homecoming show in LA art deco palace - the Wilshire Theater - tonight, who was celebrating her 51st birthday along with Vic Chesnutt, who opened. She quipped she was glad to be back amongst friends, but not so happy about the enemies :) The Duchess of Coolsville played for over three hours to numerous standing ovations from an aging hipster crowd - they wouldnt let her off the stage. Highlights of show included a tribute to the President - a rocking rendition of Jumpin'Jack Flash, to celebrate his birth - followed by what he has become - Ugly Man. She even did a cover of David Bowie's Rebel Rebel :) Half the show, she was backed by a 3 piece band - the other half was solo on guitar and piano. If you havent seen her, check her out - it's a really unbelievable show - you won't find better musicianship anywhere... Songs covered included: Chuck E's In Love Company Coolsville Flying Cowboys Living It Up Danny's All Star Joint Pirates (So Long Lonely Avenue) Sailor Song Satellites Ugly Man We Belong Together Weasel And The White Boys Cool Woody And Dutch On The Slow Train To Peking The veteran singer-songwriter recently scored the Jennifer Aniston movie "Friends With Money"...

  17. Sexual affairs between pupils and teachers 'can be beneficial' Britain should drop its moral outrage over sexual relationships between pupils and teachers and accept that an "erotic charge" in the classroom can be an aid to teaching, a Sheffield University academic says. Pat Sikes, an education lecturer, has written a paper in defence of pupil-teacher affairs, arguing that it is wrong always to cast students as victims when they are often the instigators of genuine relationships and suggesting that about 1,500 pupil-teacher affairs develop every year, the Times Educational Supplement reports today. http://education.independent.co.uk/news/article326343.ece
