  1. Rolling Stone takes a look at the year 1967 in this Interactive Featured Article. Click a geographical button on the map and you will find out what was happening in San Francisco, LA, London, etc, complete with music and text.
  2. According to Wikipedia, The Polyphonic Spree "is a choral symphonic rock group from the Dallas, Texas. The band consists of a 10-person choir, a pair of keyboardists, as well as a percussionist, drummer, bassist, guitarist, flautist, trumpeter, trombonist, violinist/violist, harpist, French horn player, a pedal steel player, theremin player, and an electronic effects person. 'Running Away' is a featured cut off of their upcoming cd, The Fragile Army, which is due out 6/19/07. 0ver 70,000 photos were used in the making of the video.
  3. The girl featured on the video is a trip, but the song is pretty good example of country music... The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Cotton Eyed Joe
  4. NPRs 'All Things Considered' sits down with jazz guitar legend Kenny Burrell about his career, 'working with the likes of Billie Holiday, John Coltrane and Duke Ellington', and his latest cd. Listen HERE.
  5. It kind of has a reggae feel to it - what don't you like about it, Jim?
  6. I thought the first solo album was pretty good--a bit rough in terms of production values, but the songs were pretty good. Never cared for Wings, never liked Band On the Run. I think 'Dance Tonight' off the new cd isnt bad.. But I agree with you overall assessment, he was better with The Beatles than solo. And more than half of his set at Amoeba were Beatle's classics. Dance Tonight - Live@Amoeba
  7. Jason Ibell, formerly of the Drive By Truckers, has a new album, Sirens of the Ditch, coming out July 10th. Jason continues his southern rock tradition with this cd, which features bandmembers The 400 Unit: Jimbo Hart, Ryan Tillery and Browan Lollar. Luckily for us, he features three cuts off the new cd at MySpace, including the one I've chosen for you - 'Grown'. You can listen them right HERE. Enjoy.
  8. according to the accompanying article in the Christian Science Monitor, they numbers did not appear to differentiate between Americans and Europeans....so I guess that means according to the poll, Europeans think no different than Americans on this issue... Do these findings mean that Americans are closet terrorist sympathizers? Hardly. Yet, far too often, Americans and other Westerners seem willing to draw that conclusion about Muslims. Public opinion surveys in the United States and Europe show that nearly half of Westerners associate Islam with violence and Muslims with terrorists. Given the many radicals who commit violence in the name of Islam around the world, that's an understandable polling result.
  9. Johnny Cash & The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
  10. or...when the clock strikes midnight, all bets are off :)
  11. Because the headline should say 'a larger percentage of Americans than..." instead of Americans - it infers that all of us hold this point of view and that is not the case
  12. Hot Diggidy Dogs :) moojj@Digg gets the nod for the find.
  13. Happy 140th birthday to Canada and all its people Read More
  14. The 250 Ft house :) [email protected] gets the nod for the find.
  15. i would like to see what questions were asked... It's a big country and yes there are ignorant people who also share it - but, I'd like to know what the point of posting the article is? Is it to infer that Americans as a whole are ignorant, or prejudiced against Muslims, or that Europeans are more enlightened? Terrorists and people who use violence as an end to their means, whether they are rulers, religious zealots, or just plain nuts are the problem - and if there is any criticism to be thrown, that's where it should be aimed
  16. Any American who considers hitting civilians is unAmerican in my opinion. That poll can kiss my ass - I have never met an American that holds that kind of point of view... I grew up with a muslim when I was a kid - how many else here can say that?
  17. The Cinematic Orchestra - Child Song from the cd, 'Ma Fleur' (2007)
  18. Swedish trance artist 'The Field' (a.k.a. one Axel Willner) had a hit with 'Over the Ice' last year. He is likely to repeat that with a number of cuts off his latest cd, From Here We Go Sublime, which has just been released by Kompact records. I am reprising that cut as well as the hypnotic 'Everday'. Even if you are not into electronic music, you're likely to get into the groove with both of these selections. You can listen to the music RIGHT HERE along with a few other choice items from the new album. Enjoy.
