The Dazz Band-Let it Whip
Off their third album, Keep it Live, here's a classic jam that went to #1 on the R&B charts & to #5 on the pop charts. It won them their only Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals in 1982. 25 yrs later, it's still an ass shaker.

Joyce Sims-Lifetime Love
Off her 1987 album, "Come into my life", which was produced by Mantronix, here's a club anthem that I remember getting down to at a couple of my high school dances with my paisley shirt, pastel Levis, and my British Knights.

Singer/Songwriter/Producer Keri Hilson, who is signed by Timbaland, lends her vocals on this track from Timbaland's "Shock Value" album. This song has gone #1 worldwide as Tim remains the R&B producer of the moment as he has recently has put Justin Timberlake & Nelly Furtado at the top of the charts as well.

The peak of his career. 1999 was an excellent album as well. This song remains in my playlist :)

Their 1st big hit off their debut album, Aerosmith, back in 1973, reaching the spot of 59 on the pop charts. It was later released in 1976, going into the top ten and little did they know that it would be a song for the ages. For the hip hop nation, this song was heavily sampled in Eminem's "Sing for the Moment".

This song went to #5 on the charts in 1984, "Sister Christian," written and sung by Kelly Keagy, Night Ranger frontman, for his own sister. It became a cautionary anthem for teenage girls across a conservative America, warning them not to "give it up before their time is due." It's off the Midnight Madness album.

I don't understand how R & B segued to hip hop
It kinda stands now between one of the greatest trends ever and would you please just go away. Hip Hop is at an all time disgusting low and I can't stand to see how low they've taken it :(

Bobby Caldwell-What you won't do for love
An R&B classic from 1978, going top ten in both the top 40 and the R&B charts. I would've bet a million bucks the dude was black. In order to ensure significant airplay on the African American-dominated R&B radio format of the time, Caldwell's management took certain steps—such as portraying the artist only in silhouette on the cover and in advertisements—to hide the fact that he was white. Imagine their surprise once that curtain rose.

Silver Convention, a German group, scored two major U.S. hit singles. "Fly, Robin, Fly" whose complete lyrics consisted of only six words, spent three weeks at number 1 in 1975, and won the group a Grammy Award for Best R&B Instrumental Performance. Old school disco right here
