  1. Nothing but snow as far as the eye can see. He has nothing to do play with whips.

And I thought my life was boring. That was about as exciting as watching an Al Gore speech.

  2. The roller coaster has lots of time and money invested. It seems he has to push the coaster back up the track. Maybe he hasn't finished yet.

The mobile home yard is too much trouble to mow the grass. Other than that it may work. I bet those people live in L.A..

The New Kids On The Block do not belong to my family. We sing way better than that. The girl looks ok. I'd hit it even if she isn't my sister.

  3. I read that to say that the pirated file wouldn't get updates. If I paid for the song I would not want their advertising updates. Duh! Sounds to me like the pirated file is much better than the paid for file. That will show the pirates who's the boss. Pay money and get avertising or steal it and we won't bother you with advertising. I must have missed something.

mp3 is owned by Phillips & RCA. I wonder what their incentive is to curb piracy??

It didn't say anything about the sound quality. I'm betting that it is another crappy lossy format. Great for portable players, not worth a shit for home use on a good system. Probably just mp3 with something added to enable it handle advertising and jpegs. That is why it will play on current mp3 players (backward compatible).

Anybody remember mp3 pro?? That format never got started. Not even a small fraction of 1% of the files I have ever seen were in that format. Yep, Phillips & RCA again. They predicted it would become the industry standard but few people have ever heard of it and even fewer have ever seen it. mp3 pro had the same bit depth that mp3 had but the sampling rate was half as much. Standard mp3 is 44100hz. You can easily change that setting with many programs but that is the standard. mp3 pro had a sampling rate of 22050hz. That is how it achieved the smaller file size. Their claims about it having some whoop-de-doo processing to enhance the sound is BullShit Pro. You can take a regular mp3 and dither it down to 22050 and it will sound the same or damn close to the same as mp3 pro. mp3 pro has been out for around 8 years or maybe longer. I can't remember how long for sure. It is a dead issue. The handful of files that you would see in that format have almost totally disappeared in recent years. You will see at least 1000 albums before you see 1 in that format.

Now those same people are predicting this one will be the next big deal. Whatever. My Bullshit meter is pegged out to the Max. Make that Max pro. Flac, Ape and WavPack are what I'm seeing more of as I surf about. Those are all lossless. And of course, lots of good old lossy mp3. wma seems to have lost a lot of ground during the last 5 years and it didn't have much territory to lose.

Thanks for the article Kiwi! Wear your boots and hold your nose while reading because it's getting a little bit deep!

  4. I am glad it doesn't snow that much here. When I was a kid we had a homemade 2-seat sled that we pulled around behind a mule but only in warm weather. Later we pulled it on the dirt roads with a car. A 1953 Ford Customline it was. I never saw a cop on the dirt roads so we didn't get busted. We sure as Hell got dusted. A car can stir up a lot of dust on a dry dirt road. We would get so dirty we weren't allowed into the house until we rinsed off in the yard.

Nice cover version of Jimi Hendrix's "Fire". Good album. Joe South's "Hush" is another excellent track. I like it as well as Deep Purple's version. Maybe even a little better.

  6. Interesting. I used Morpheus years ago along with WinMx, Aimster, Napster .......ganster, dumpster........I don't know what all. I don't think I'm going back to any sort of p2p. Morpheus was owned by StreamCast or something like that. They filed for bankrupcy and went totally out of business. I wonder if someone has developed a program and stole the Morpheus name. I can't imagine that someone that makes pirating software would steal a trademarked brand name.

Y'all pirates let me know the particulars of how and how well it works. Inquiring minds want to know.

And while y'all do that, I'll be brushing up on my Russian.

It's difficult to find the download button when you don't speak the language. :pirate5:

  7. Not long after high school, I was working part time at a auto repair place. I girl had brought a van in on the back of a tow truck. A couple of mechanics messed with it for a good while but couldn't figure out the problem so they pushed it outside. The next day the police showed up about the van. Somebody had used it in a bank robbery.

The mofo must have been pretty sharp! He fixed it, then stole it, then robbed a bank! Got away with it too! The girl got her van back in running condition with no repair bill.

Another time a kid that lived across from us got his motorcycle stolen. It was a wore out piece of shit and he had no money to fix it or replace it. About 6 weeks later the police recovered it. It had a new engine, tires, seat, battery, chain and sprockets and had a nice paint job. The kid didn't recognize it but the serial number matched his that got stolen so there you go. It just goes to show you that you can't lose them all!
