Motley Crue singer Vince Neil will take a plea deal and serve two weeks of jail time, plus two weeks of house arrest, for driving drunk in his Lamborghini last summer near the Las Vegas Strip.

Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler said on Tuesday the band would start work on its first new studio album in a decade, and promised that his new gig as a judge on "American Idol" would not get in the way.

Canadian radio station have been warned to censor the 1985 Dire Straits hit "Money for Nothing," after a complaint that the lyrics of the Grammy Award-winning song were derogatory to gay men.
A St. John's, Newfoundland, station should have edited the song to remove the word "faggot" because it violates Canada's human rights standards, according to ruling this week by the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council.

Without confirming reports that she has been battling cancer or even saying why she was sick, soul icon Aretha Franklin said in a magazine interview on Thursday that she is now "feeling great" after recent surgery.

Bagdasarian Prods, owner of the "Alvin and the Chipmunks" franchise, is suing EMI Music for allegedly failing to pay appropriate royalties on a boxed set of Chipmunks music featuring 24 songs.
The Chipmunks were created in 1958 by Ross Bagdasarian, Sr., and became an instant success -- perhaps the best-selling gimmick in entertainment history.

I think they are pissing in the wind but it is funny. Maybe they want to throw so much up crap into the air that the record companies will take pocket change just to avoid airing their dirty laundry. I hope LimeWire is successful. The record companies are sued constantly for cheating on royalties. I have never seen a case go to court. They always settle out of court. To me that indicates they have something to hide. You don't pay up to avoid court if you have paid royalties per the contract.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man who bragged about hacking into Miley Cyrus' e-mail account and distributing revealing pictures of her has been arrested on unrelated charges, according to court documents.

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Boney M frontman Bobby Farrell died of heart disease, Russian investigators said on Wednesday, almost a week after the singer was found dead in his hotel room in St. Petersburg.
"It was not a suspicious death. Heart disease was the cause," Sergei Kapitanov, representative of St. Petersburg's branch of Russia's investigative committee, said by telephone.
Farrell, 61, was famous for dancing and lip synching for the disco band Boney M, which rose to prominence in Europe, the United States and the Soviet Union with songs like "Rivers of Babylon" and "Rasputin."
He was found dead on December 30 after Boney M performed in the Russian imperial capital -- a city where the band rose to stardom in the Soviet era. -

"Recovery" moved 3.4 million units since its June release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. No. 2 on the list is Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now," which sold about 3.1 million records. "Speak Now," Taylor Swift's third CD, which was released in late October, is No. 3, selling about 2.96 million copies.
While Eminem owns last year's top CD, his Rihanna-assisted "Love the Way You Lie" is No. 3 on the list of top songs. He was beat out by Katy Perry's smash hit, "California Gurls." The song features Snoop Dogg and moved 4.4 million tracks in 2010. Train's "Hey, Soul Sister" is second with 4.3 million sold; the Top 5 includes Taio Cruz's "Dynamite" and B.o.B's "Airplanes."

NEW YORK (Billboard) – It seems that the EMI/Beatles deal that finally brought the Fab Four's catalog to iTunes may be more groundbreaking than originally thought.
According to industry sources, iTunes is paying the Beatles' royalties from digital download sales in the United States directly to the band's company, Apple Corps, and is paying the songwriting mechanical royalties directly to Sony/ATV Music Publishing, which controls most of the Beatles' song catalog.
That suggests the royalty split could be more lucrative for the Beatles than it would be under the typical provisions of a standard artist contract, which treat digital downloads as a retail sale.
