Today is a great day for Blu-Ray collectors! The "Jurassic Park" trilogy is now available in all its dino-tastic, awesome old school special effects glory. It's hard to believe that the original "Jurassic Park" came out almost 20 years ago, I remember the trauma/delight of that moviegoing experience like it was yesterday... To celebrate this excellent event, MTV News was lucky enough to catch up with a few of the film's key players: Ariana Richards (aka Lex) and the multiple award-winning FX masterminds Dennis Muren, Phil Tippett and John Rosengrant. "There was a moment in there where I needed to save my brother from being killed by one of these things and Steven [Spielberg] came over to me and said, 'Ariana, just scare us. Just let loose.' And I did, and I didn't know I could do it, but he brought things out of me that I didn't know I had." Richards went on to say that she enjoyed the effect her character had on other young girls, with regard to how Lex's intelligence was portrayed in a positive light versus a negative one. "I felt really good about it, actually. Being able to play a character who is a young girl who is smart, who is able and who also got to be the heroine of the story as the time went on. Young girls need to know that, that it is fantastic to be smart and to just go for it." For the FX wizards, Muren, Tippett and Rosengrant, whose resumes are so full of awesome (i.e. they've been part of the success of your favorite movies over the last three decades) it's ridiculous, they're just happy they finished the film on time. "For me it's sort of the whole thing. Just that we got it done is a miracle and it was so exciting at the time doing it," Muren, whose work you also know from "E.T.," "Willow" and "Twister." "It was a big deal," added Tippett, the visual effects man behind "Star Wars," "Indiana Jones" and "Starship Troopers," to name a few. "We were proud of every single character because each one was an opportunity," Rosengrant said, who rocked creature effects on "Aliens," "Terminator" and "Galaxy Quest." Despite meeting Weezy the usually outspoken rap rookie hasn’t yet built up the nerve to send Wayne the track he already made with Tunechi in mind. "I actually have this beat that I want him on, but I was too scared to get it to [my manager] Clancy to get it to them, but Wayne's cool," he told MTV News. Seems like Tune would be open to the idea. While on the set of Birdman's "Y.U. Mad" video in Miami on October 15, Weezy — who was rocking a MellowHype T-shirt — told MTV News how he supports the Cali collective. "I just rock with 'em. Shout-out my man Taco; that's my dude," Weezy F. said of OF and Taco in particular. "I'm just real cool with the homeys. Shouts out, Tyler." During their meet in L.A., Wayne showered the Wolf Gang front man with a ton of praise. Tyler, however didn’t get much of a word in. It's hard to deny that there's a big market for the "[url="http://moviesblog.mtv.com/tag/harry-potter"]Harry Potter[/url]" film franchise. The final film, "[url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/383853/moviemain.jhtml"]Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2[/url]," went on to gross $380.5 million domestic and $1.3 billion worldwide, making it the highest grossing "Potter" movie to date. But less than a month and a half after "Part 2" hits DVD and Blu-Ray on November 11, Warner Bros is going to put all the "Potter" films on moratorium until an unannounced future date. Can we be the first blog to dub this the "Gringotts Vault" after Walt Disney's "Disney Vault"? All eight "Potter" films are going to be pulled off store shelves on December 29, including the eight-film collectors edition boxed set. Stores won't be able to reorder any more copies after that until WB decides to release a new edition of the film. So make sure you put the "Harry Potter" films on your Christmas list if you want them because they're going to be pretty hard to come by after that. Disney fans should be familiar with this sales move, as it's the main way Disney distributes their animated films. Movies like "Beauty and the Beast," "The Lion King" and "Aladdin" are locked away in the Disney vault for several years until the studio decides to release a new, updated version of the movie often with better animation, new special features and a more expensive price tag. This move by Warner Bros seems to be an attempt to maintain interest in the film series. It's also a guarantee that a new, better version of the films with new special features and added bonuses will likely hit Blu-Ray and DVD within the next few years, so that might influence whether you decide to buy that deluxe boxed set now or wait until the better one comes out down the road. By Nadeska Alexis Earlier this month an official court complaint was filed against Jay-Z and Kanye West over an uncleared sample of Syl Johnson’s 1976 hit “Different Strokes,” which was used on Watch The Throne’s bonus track “The Joy.” Last week, Syleena Johnson—daughter of the soul/blues singer and crooner on Kanye’s single “All Falls Down”—addressed the lawsuit on Sway In The Morning, frankly, saying, “It’d be cool if everybody would stop saying “your dad is suing Kanye,’ because I don’t really feel like that’s the case.” Syleena confirmed that her father is moving forward with the lawsuit, but she cleared up rumors that the complaint was specifically targeting Kanye West or Jay-Z. “It’s not necessarily that Kanye did the record,” she began. “It’s to my understanding that Pete Rock did the beat, but of course it looks cooler to see ‘Oh, Syl Johnson is suing Kanye and Jay-Z.’ Jay-Z probably doesn’t even know anything about the beat!” “I know there’s a piece of my father’s song “Different Strokes” in it, but I think that his issue is not necessarily with them [Kanye and Jay-Z], it’s with the label, because it’s their responsibility to get the clearance for the song,” she continued, matter-of-factly. “When I talk to my dad, he’s not like “I’m gonna get Kanye or I’m gonna get Jay-Z,” she said, clearly irritated at the rumor mill. “Real talk, if somebody samples Kanye or Jay-Z, or whoever else, I’m sure they would go after the person for their money too.” Lawsuit or no lawsuit, Kanye and Jay-Z’s Watch The Throne tour is still scheduled to kick off on October 28 in Atlanta. Ron Howard and Brian Grazer's attempt to adapt [url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/463318/moviemain.jhtml"]Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" series[/url] over multiple films and television seasons has hit something of a snag: sporting a high price tag and an unprecedented rollout plan, [url="http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2011/05/06/the-dark-tower-turnaround-ron-howard/"]"Dark Tower" proved too ambitious for Universal to handle[/url]. But if Grazer is to be believed, "The Dark Tower" isn't too big for HBO. Speaking with MTV News at the "[url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/465269/moviemain.jhtml"]Tower Heist[/url]" press junket this past weekend, Grazer revealed that "The Dark Tower" is still very much on track, so much so that that HBO has come on board. Grazer, who believes that [url="http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2011/05/25/dark-tower-javier-bardem-ron-howard-casting-call/"]the previously attached Javier Bardem[/url] will still be on board as Roland Deschain, added that "Dark Tower" is going to be able to move ahead largely because he and Howard have managed to reduce the film's substantial budget. "We're going to do that movie. We've lost $45 million out of the budget," he said. "When people say no to you enough, then you have to lose money, which we've done without harming the scope of the film." Grazer's comments that "The Dark Tower" is heading to HBO is a huge development, to say the least.
