13. Gangsta Boo released her last album Enquiring Minds II: The Soap Opera in 2003, but the Tennessee rapper is back on the scene with a new EP due out in February. She’s also set to appear alongside Eminem on the single “Throw It Up,” from Yelawolf’s Radioactive album. XXL recently quizzed Gangsta Boo on the current hip-hop scene and the former Three Six Mafia member had some less than flattering things to say about newcomer Kreayshawn. “I think she’s a w----r,” Boo told XXL, requesting that the segment remain in the interview. “I think she looks like she came out the movie B.A.P.S.; like the whole ghetto girl thing, I don’t know if that’s how white girls do it in Oakland.” “I got to meet her personally to feel her out, to understand like, ‘OK, like, this is really this girl, like she ain’t a w----r, she just her,” she continued, about the "Gucci Gucci" rapper. “She likes ghetto looks, she ain’t trying to be a ghetto black girl. That’s just her.’ So until I meet her I have a lil’ bitter taste in my mouth to her.” Tune into "RapFix Live" at 3pm today to hear more of what Gangsta Boo has to say. She’ll be joined by Mobb Deep on the red couch, as Havoc and Prodigy reveal details on their upcoming Black Cocaine EP and their ninth album Mobb Deep. by Rachel Molino “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” has adapted Swedish author Stieg Larsson’s crime thriller novel of the same name in a perfect cacophony of white hot director David Fincher, newly most-sought-after score master Trent Reznor and fan-approved leads Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara. The film, which features Mara as a tormented computer hacker, probably doesn’t need a real hand in the hype department, but it certainly is appropriate that a Tumblr site helms its viral marketing campaign. MouthTapedShut.com, the as of yet unofficial viral marketing hub for the “Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,” has posted a new poster — just as striking as the first one we saw, albeit for different, less naked reasons. Distinctly infused with notes of 40s-era noir, projected on a bleak snowy landscape and topped with a sharp-edged font, the poster has as much style as the ultra stylish film deserves. Updates, in both picture and video form, already come at a rate of about one per day at the Tumblr, and are likely to speed up the closer we come to the thriller’s December 21 release. Ironically, those who have remained unexposed to Larsson’s novels and Swedish film adaptations will have to wait until the snowy season for the mysteries of “Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” to “come forth in the thaw.” Which “Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” poster do you prefer? 16. Welcome to MTV's Killer Halloween! All week long, we're looking at ten of the greatest horror movie villains of all time, and with your help, we'll determine once and for all just how powerful these murdering psychopaths and evil masterminds really are. Our contestants: Freddy Krueger ("A Nightmare on Elm Street"), Jason Voorhees ("Friday the Thirteenth"), Michael Myers ("Halloween"), Ghostface ("Scream"), Leatherface ("The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"), Chucky ("Child's Play"), Norman Bates ("Psycho"), Pinhead ("Hellraiser"), Hannibal Lecter ("Silence of the Lambs") and Jigsaw ("Saw"). We've already covered style and weaponry, and now it's time to turn to another crucial element that makes the horror killer: his personality. Sure you can slash, yes you can stab, but can you pull these moves off with a winning one-liner and an unforgettable cackle? After the jump, vote on a scale of one to five -- one being worst, five being best -- to rank the personalities of our Killer Halloween competitors! Freddy Krueger The thing about Freddy is that he isn't just going to kill you. He's going to cut into you with his razor fingers and make fun of you while he does it. No killer's wit is quite as deadly as the nightmare from Elm Street. Jason Voorhees More the strong, silent type, Jason is a mama's boy through and through and proud of it. He loves his mom so much that in "Freddy vs. Jason," his devotion was enough to make him come back from the dead. That's dedication! Michael Myers Not exactly known for his sense of humor, the embodiment of pure evil has a pension for slow walks, hanging out with his sister, Laurie, and sitting in a room staring at a wall, not seeing the wall, looking past the wall, looking at this night. Ghostface The killer from "Scream" is the horror movie version of that friend who thinks he knows everything about movies. Ghostface won't just annoy you by stalking you over the phone and eventually killing you, he'll make you feel totally uncultured in the process. Leatherface The victim of horrible in-breeding, Leatherface is essentially a man-child who does his family's bidding. His hobbies include chainsaw repair, cannibalism and butchery. Chucky When Charles Lee Ray transferred his soul over to a Good Guy doll, he brought every ounce of psychosis with him. Chucky may look sweet, but he is every bit the pissed-off murderer he was as a human. Norman Bates Norman may seem like a mild-mannered motelier who wouldn't hurt a fly, but the other, more motherly half of his personality definitely would. Norman's the kind of guy who will make a sandwich for you, but Mother's rude enough to interrupt a nice, calming shower. Pinhead The soul stealer from "Hellraiser" certainly takes the cake for the kinkiest of all movie killers. Pinhead doesn't just take you to Hell. He takes you to Hell and then tortures you in sadomasochistic acts for all eternity. Hannibal Lecter Dr. Lecter is nice enough to talk to as long as there's a thick pane of Plexiglas between the two of you. He's a master of psychology, whose brain power is strong enough that he can convince the inmate one cell over to shallow his own tongue. Jigsaw Jigsaw is obsessed with testing the moral fiber of his unlucky test subjects. If he finds you worthy of life, you'll live, but only after experiencing the worst of Jigsaw's imagination. Check out the results from Killer Halloween's weaponry poll! Leatherface saws his way to the top in this round, with Jigsaw and his bear-trap masks close behind! Freddy remains the most consistent killer of the bunch, but how will that change once personality is taken into account? We'll find out tomorrow as MTV's Killer Halloween week continues! As we previously reported, Lindsay recently locked down a nearly-million-dollar deal with PB for a full pictorial -- and yesterday, she finally wrapped her 4-day shoot. Reports circulated Lindsay would pull one of those lame semi-nude fiascos -- all sideboob, no fun -- but sources close to Hef & co. tell us, that is NOT the case. Lindsay did insist the photos be "tastefully done," but we're told she's still going the full monty. It's unclear when Lindsay will grace the cover -- but it could be the life-giving jolt Playboy needs for a comeback. 20. All "Harry Potter" DVDs are being pulled from store shelves at the end of the year, heading into Warner Bros.' vault for an as-yet-unknown length of time. Fans are understandably frustrated by the news — first, no more new "Potter" movies, and now we can't even buy the old ones anymore? — but perhaps there's a silver lining to be found. If there is, there's no one better to identify it than some of the top "Potter" experts and movie commentators floating around the blogosphere. We reached out to NextMovie's Breanne Heldman, Hypable's Andrew Sims and MTV's very own Terri Schwartz for their thoughts on the latest "Potter" news. Initial Reactions » Terri Schwartz: When Warner Bros announced this earlier this month, I was more peeved than anything else. It seems a bit silly to pull the "Potter" DVDs off shelves only a month and a half after the eighth and final film gets released on home video. I think it's hard to see this move as anything other than an attempt to get the "Potter" DVDs selling faster and in higher quantities. » Andrew Sims: I was surprised, and the most interesting part about the decision is that they're being pulled so soon after the holidays. Taking them off shelves just four days after Christmas seems like an impatient move. I think waiting until at least late January or February (to cater to those who may've set a Potter New Years Resolution) would've been better. Exploring The Logic » Breanne Heldman: With all the "Potter" films out of theaters and permanently available for purchase on home video, the cash cow dies, and so does some of the excitement for the franchise. This way, a few years down the road when the movies get re-released, enthusiasm can (and will) reach a fever pitch again, and this will likely effect the sales of more than just Blu-rays. » AS: I think Warner's idea is to make a big deal and pull them so it's a big Holiday gift, and then bring a new collection back next year. They'll announce that they're "reopening the vault" or something to that effect in late 2012 and promise new special features on an updated set. The "Harry Potter Home Entertainment Celebration" next month in Orlando will send a big "goodbye forever!" message to help push the sales. The Fan Response » AS: The fans so far have reacted pretty negatively. I think they've been thinking more about potential new fans who want to go out and buy the films after December 29th. New fans will be left with no options other than digital or on-demand purchases, which seems unfair. It also stings the fans because they hate to see their Harry disappear. No more new films was bad enough, but now we can't even see him in stores! » BH: True fans will run out and buy their copies when they hit shelves on Nov. 11, so this will be a non-issue for them. But, unfortunately, enterprising minds across the web will likely see opportunity for some cold hard cash. Next Steps » TS: Honestly, hearing this news is making me think that fans should wait to buy the big boxed set that will be released of all eight "Potter" films. Since Warner Bros is pulling the "Potter" DVDs off shelves at the end of December, you can rest assured that they're going to come out with an even better Platinum Deluxe Phoenix edition in a year or two that is jam-packed with all the extras they didn't put in this one. If you're the type of person who just wants to see the movie, then sure, buy it now, but if you (like me) prefer the Special Edition to the regular DVD, I'd say hold on to your pennies and wait for the next edition a few years down the road. Or just pick your money tree in the backyard and buy both. Will This Work? » BS: Did the expelliarmus charm ultimately kill Voldemort? How do you feel about the "Potter" news? Lohan -- who's been locked up since being arrested for allegedly battering Major yesterday -- appeared before a Hillsborough County (Tampa) judge this morning. During the hearing, the judge set Lohan's bond at $5,000 -- but ordered Lohan to stay behind bars until 6 PM. 22. With the latest addition of Kerry Washington, the already impressive cast of Quentin Tarantino's next movie, "Django Unchained," just got a little more impressive. Throw in his other recent hire -- Don Johnson -- and it's clear that the auteur is up to his usual quirky casting tricks. Tarantino has always been known for his, ah, interesting choices with his ensemble casts, pulling from both mainstream Hollywood actors and the dustiest corners of pop culture, and resurrecting the careers of fallen stars. "Django Unchained" is no exception, but how does it stack up with the rest of Tarantino's oeuvre? It's got some tough competition from what have become iconic ensembles, so let's take a look at where the new cast stands in comparison. "Reservoir Dogs" Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, Steve Buscemi, Chris Penn, Lawrence Tierney The Rundown: The color-coded cast set the tone for the rest of Tarantino's movies. Rounded out by mostly indie players and b-actors from film eras gone by, the mix gave the bloody debut a unique flavor and features several actors who would go on to become Tarantino regulars like Keitel, Madsen, Roth and Buscemi. Versus "Django Unchained": Tarantino's "southern" definitely beats "Reservoir Dogs" on star power. No one even close to the level of Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx, but the low budget charm and indie cred of the original Tarantino ensemble holds strong even against the big-budget awesomeness of "Django." "Pulp Fiction" John Travolta, Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman, Ving Rhames The Rundown: "Pulp Fiction" started the Tarantino tradition of bringing an actor back from obscurity in the case of John Travolta, and made stars out of the rest of the cast. Another enormous contribution Tarantino made with this movie was giving the world the Samuel L. Jackson it knows and loves, and starting a working relationship that would continue through every subsequent release, minus "Death Proof." Versus "Django Unchained": The tradition that began with Travolta continues here in a number of ways. Jamie Foxx could definitely benefit from a rep boost, as could Kurt Russell, but Tarantino reaches back even further by casting Don Johnson and Dennis Christopher from "Breaking Away." Samuel L. Jackson returns in the biggest Tarantino role since his turn in "Jackie Brown," his fifth collaboration with the director, hopefully signaling what to expect from the future career of Christoph Waltz. "Jackie Brown" Pam Grier, Robert DeNiro, Robert Forster, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, Chris Tucker The Rundown: Always the under-appreciated Tarantino film, "Jackie Brown" boasts the return of Pam Grier to her old "Foxy Brown" ways, the director's teaming with Robert DeNiro and another classic Samuel L. Jackson role as Ordell. Versus "Django Unchained": When the search for Django was at its height, many rumors threw Chris Tucker's name into the mix as a contender for the role that ultimately went to Foxx. Tarantino has always been one to cast comedic actors in dramatic roles, and Tucker's role here is another example of that. But again, "Django" gets the nod for more star power and overall more exciting choices. "Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and 2" Uma Thurman, David Carradine, Michael Madsen, Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox, Daryl Hannah The Rundown: The big story here was another attempt at a career revival. David Carradine as the titular Bill showed the world that the "Kung Fu" star still held onto every bit of cool from his old days as Caine. Tarantino also drew from the movies he loved as a child with the casting of Sonny Chiba. Versus "Django Unchained": "Kill Bill"'s biggest connection to the newest movie is that it's Tarantino's first western that isn't a western. The cast in the two-parter has arguably the most recognizable faces too, and revivals "Django" in that regard, so we'll have to see when "Django" hits theaters next Christmas whether it can compete with the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad. "Death Proof" Kurt Russell, Zoe Bell, Rosario Dawson, Vanessa Ferlito, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Mary Elizabeth Winstead The Rundown: For his half of "Grindhouse," Tarantino made the interesting choice of casting stunt badass Zoe Bell as herself and making his first attempt at a well-deserved comeback for Kurt Russell. Versus "Django Unchained": Tarantino decided to go with a much lesser-known cast than he had worked with previously. With the exception of Russell, Dawson and Rose McGowan, most of the cast were strangers to a wider-audience. Compared to "Django"'s cast of recognizable stars and Tarantino regulars, "Death Proof"'s ensemble is much more low key. Anyone familiar with Russell's body of work should have their fingers crossed, hoping that the comeback sticks better this time around with "Django." "Inglourious Basterds" Brad Pitt, Christoph Waltz, Melanie Laurent, Eli Roth, Michael Fassbender, Diane Kruger The Rundown: In the years to come, movie goers will look back at "Inglourious Basterds" and thank it for launching some great careers for a few European actors. "Basterds" marked most US audiences' introductions to Waltz, who won the Oscar, Fassbender and Laurent, who all have already crossed over or started to in big ways. Versus "Django Unchained": With the exception of Pitt, "Basterds" was mostly about the until-then unknown European actors. "Django" falls closer into the tradition of rehabbing the images of older actors, but in the case of DiCaprio and Pitt, both films mark the first collaboration of Tarantino and a major star. 23. By Nadeska Alexis J. Cole wrapped up the North American leg of his Cole World tour with a show in New York City on Wednesday night (October 25), bringing along a special visual treat for fans. During an hour long set—which included mixtape hits and choice cuts from his debut album—the North Carolina native premiered the video for his heartfelt single “Lost Ones.” The emotional track, a top pick of both fans and critics, appears on Cole World: The Sideline Story and the visuals were received with cheers from the crowd. Cole opened the show with his verse on Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 single “A Star is Born,” before moving on to his most recent material, like the track “Daddy’s Little Girl.” Being the storyteller that he is, Cole decided to follow the tale of a good girl gone bad with the “Lost Ones” video premiere. Lights were dimmed in the Best Buy Theater while the video played on the stage screen. Avid Cole fans will remember that “Lost Ones” was actually recorded three years ago and shelved with the intention of appearing on his official debut album. The BBGun-directed clip allows the Roc Nation signee to put faces to the male/female narratives on the track, which tackle the touchy subject of abortion. The video is prefaced with this short message from Cole: “With just a dollar and a dream, this video was shot in 2008 before I even had a record deal. 3 years later, watching it still gives me the same emotions. This one is dedicated to the Lost Ones”- Jermaine Cole. During J. Cole's recent Road To Release series with MTV 2's "Sucker Free," he explained the process of selecting video directors.
